COLLABORATION- GREEN ART DEPARTMENT

My inspiration for this collaboration project is Green Art Department set up and run by Alice Loveday Colfox. I have previously worked with Alice for a set design I did at Earth Hackney for ‘a state of Flo’. The event consisted of a talks, dj sets and live experimental mixing which I got to attend. The night was partnered with Brian Enos charity Earth % and 10% of the tickets sales went to environmental charities.

Alice uses primarily foraged items from around where she lives in Cornwall. Her sets seem to be seasonal – using only items which align with our seasonal change. She has done some amazing projects for some incredibly well respected musicians, perfumery’s and many more well respected people in their fields. Alices idea of setting up Green Art Department is something that I would love to do one day.

These are a few photos from the set I did for Green Art Department. During all of the meeting before the show, Alice encouraged us to forage al of our items going to areas like the heath and big green spaces within London. I had no previous background in set design, this was my first and I loved it. Working with and for Alice allowed me to see this beautiful natural world of set design. I am also lucky enough to have a set designer for a sister who shares her secrets and tricks with me.

Working with Alice was an absolute pleasure, I really love the company she has created and the ethos and ethics behind it. I look forward to hopefully working with her again one day, just to learn the knowledge and wisdom off of someone who creates such amazing things and shares very similar Lewis on our relationship as I do.
