COLLABORATION- EXHIBITION IDEA

The final idea that I have solidified is to document my collaboration with the team I will be working with on the ‘Do you see the heart shaped-rock?’ exhibition. This exhibition formed just as I started this unit. The collaborators comprise of musicians, dj’s, metal workers, poets, painters, textile workers and many more. The exhibition was created by my sisters Lily and Rose. Both are artist in their own way. Lily who primarily works as a set designer but has a background in fine art and rose who is an anthropologist but is currently working at a sustainability firm. Being their sister I have a close relationship to them and the exhibition. All of us have been discussing this exhibition for the past year, considering every element and now the project is really coming to life.

My role for this exhibition is to create a set design which is the fist element of the show. The whole experience is about and exploration into every day sacredness. Starting with a pilgramicdge to the site. So after the pilgrapmige I have been asked to create a forest like corridor that guide you into the exhibition itself. Due to the the qualities of the space we wanted to narrow vastness of it down by putting curtain like material to create a small corridor. Within that corridor I will create a path resembling that of a forest floor and a forest itself. I will incorporate smell light and touch to this collaboration. After much discussion with the other artist and my sisters we created the idea which I have been interested in carrying out.

My idea is to use all of the items that I foraged from my previous exhibition in order to re use them and be more sustainable alongside consciously foraging other items as we come into spring. My friend who is an avid forager will be helping me with this, making sure that I forage the right items and don’t disrupt the ecosystems around them. He will also be foraging any mushrooms that are out at the moment to go along the ‘forest floor’. We want to working with the seasons, creating something that if you went to the forest now would actually be there. We will also be working with a lighting person Alistair who has a professional lighting background to create an ambient environment.

My other role for the exhibition is to source the speakers, projectors and smoke machines. I have been in corospondance with Rory the sound arts technician who has kindly agreed to help me. I will be in charge of transporting these items to the location and safely bring them back to LCC too.

This collaboration is incredibly exiting. Most of the participants are already certified artist who have been out of education for a few years. My experience so far in communication between us all has been very positive. All of the artist have the opportunity to share their ideas and a heard when hey do so. Everyone is very considerate and passionate about this project. I am looking forward to the nexts steps of it.
